4-H Wildlife Stewards Student Summits

The 4-H Wildlife Stewards Summits are designed to give students from 4-H Wildlife Stewards Member schools the opportunity to showcase their habitat projects with team poster displays and/or presentations.  Participating students will have the opportunity to participate in hands-on educational workshops, present their project findings to a panel of judges, and receive recognition for their projects.  All students in grades K-12 are eligible to particpate.  Students and student teams will be evaluated based on their age group (K-3 grades, 4-6 grades, 7-9 and grades 10-12 grades).

Benton County 4-H Wildlife Stewards Youth Summit

April 24, 2008

The 2008 4-H Wildlife Stewards Summit will be held at the Benton County Fairgrounds in Corvallis on April 24, 2008. This event is an opportunity for youth from Benton and Linn County 4-H Wildlife Steward Member schools to showcase their projects. Students who participate in the 4-H Wildlife Stewards Summit generally work in teams to create an educational display. They give an oral presentation to a judge and are awarded a ribbon on their placing. In addition these students participate in hands-on natural science activities made possible by local natural resource organizations and agencies.

This year a team of twelve middle school students from Lincoln K-8 will form the Summit planning team. These students are gaining valuable leadership skills in planning an educational event of this size. This year over 200 students will share their work. Evaluations from this event show students gaining skills in public presentation, organization, teamwork, layout and design and leadership and that as a result of their participation in this program they like science better and it is helping them to get better at science. If you need more information about this event contact Maggie Livesay at Benton County OSU Extension 4-H. Phone 541-766-6750.
