BACK FOR 2012 CAMP
We are pleased to announce that our very popular Art Classes with “Sunshine” our resident artist and Science Classes with “Pink Monkey” our incredible science teacher are back again in 2012! Each day, campers in Sunshine’s art focus group or Pink Monkey’s science focus group will receive three additional hours for enhanced learning opportunities. Throughout the day during times such as habitat restoration, campers enrolled in the art focus classes and science focus will meet in small groups with Sunshine or Pink Monkey to spend extra time exploring and learning. The cost is only $50.00 extra per camper. Space is limited and will be filled on a first come/first served basis.

About Our Camp
Youth Campers
The 4-H Junior Wildlife Stewards
Camp is sponsored by OSU Extension 4-H and is open to boys and girls
completing grades 3-8. The camp is designed for youth who wish to explore
wildlife and the wonders of nature in an outdoor setting. Previous experience
or knowledge in these areas is not required — 4-H welcomes novices
who want to learn and have fun in the process. You do not have to be
a 4-H member to participate in camp. Trained staff from OSU Extension
4-H will provide guidance in the basics of fishing and aquatic habitats,
wildlife tracking, nature crafts, bird watching, forestry, canoeing,
evening campfire programs, and more. Campers will take on new responsibilities
and learn new skills as members of the camp community. A special project
for the entire camp community will be a hands-on wildlife restoration
project.
Youth Leadership Program
- 7th-8th Grade
Counselor in Training Program
A special program at our Junior 4-H Wildlife Stewards Program is a Leadership Program for 7th-8th graders called the Counselor in Training (CIT's). First year CIT's attend special leadership classes, are assigned leadership roles at camp, stay in cabins with other CIT's, and participate in a special overnight camp out during camp.
- 8th Grade Junior Counselors (must have completed the CIT program). Junior Counselors assist teen counselors in the youth cabins, take leadership classes, and must have completed the Counselor in Training program. The Junior Counselor program prepares youth completing 8th to become a camp counselor once they complete 9th grade, develop their leadership skills, and at the same time explore wildlife and the environment in a fun atmosphere.
- Teen Counselors (9th-12th grade).
Any youth who has completed 9th-12th grade is eligible to apply for a teen counselor position at the 4-H Wildlife Stewards camp. 4-H Teen leaders are a very important part of the camp staffing plan. 4-H Teen Camp Counselors are both givers and receivers of 4-H camp educational programs.
